Information

The Western Rock Lobster fishery (Panulirus cygnus) is Australia’s most valuable single-species wild-caught fishery. Considered the pinnacle of seafood globally, Western Rock Lobster is chosen for fine dining and celebrations around the world. Geraldton Fishermen's Co-operative (GFC) is a renowned collective of fishing families established in 1950 and headquartered in Western Australia. The co-operative is the largest producer of rock lobsters in Australia. It is marketed under the Brolos brand, a nod to the Abrolhos Islands - a remote, untouched enclave of coral islands and pristine waters where many Western Rock Lobsters thrive. Slow-growing and wild-caught, the nutrient-rich waters give Brolos lobster their unique taste profile, exceptional taste with a firm texture and vibrant colour. A world leader in sustainable fishing practices, the Western Rock Lobster fishery was the first in the world to achieve the Marine Stewardship Council's sustainable fishing certificate. The unique co-operative structure achieves seemingly contradictory goals: a reliable commercial partner with year-round supply, yet each Brolos lobster is hand-selected for quality. Fishing families with generations of experience and deep respect for our oceans utilise industry-leading production innovations to deliver the highest quality rock lobster products in the world.
