Information

Goolwa PipiCo manages approximately 70% of the South Australian Lakes and Coorong Fishery Pipi Fishery, in the Yarluwar-Rue (Sea Country) of the Ngarrindjeri Nation. Emerging from a fishery association formed in 2007, three fishing families joined forces and together with KutiCo, a company 100% owned by the Ngarrindjeri Nation, we now harvest and process up to 5.0 tonnes of pipis a day. We use traditional hand-harvesting techniques, just as the Ngarrindjeri people have used for over 19,000 years. The pipis are brought to the surface of the sand by foot at the shoreline, collected by rake, sorted at the beach and then de-sanded, processed and packed at our state-of-the-art facility. Our commitment to sustainability has earned us the highly covetable blue tick of approval from the Marine Stewardship Council. A sweet, edible saltwater clam that’s briny nuttiness brings both richness and simplicity to a whole range of dishes. Our pipis grace some of the finest restaurant menus around the world. Goolwa PipiCo’s objective has always been to be the preferred provider of the highest quality clams in Australia. However, we understand these objectives can only be met by protecting and preserving the resource, now and into the future.
